In a few months, it’s time to once again take up the fight against Shinra and the other abominations plaguing the world. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second part of the original’s remake and is released on February 29, 2024, for Playstation 5 (exclusively for at least three months), and if you don’t quite remember the plot from the first game, Square Enix has come to the rescue.
In the video below, we get a rough overview of what has happened, and on their website, they also tell a little more about what we can expect from Rebirth. In the battles, for example, we will be able to use special cooperative attacks called synergy abilities, and more become available as the group members reach higher levels. Cloud and Tifa, for example, can burn off a Relentless Rush, where Cloud throws Tifa at an enemy so they can attack together.
One of the side activities you can engage in in the game is helping the character Chadley find proto-relics, which “affect time and space, and can cause strange phenomena.” Success leads to earning data points, which can be used to develop new materia, which is what gives the characters their magic.
Finally, the game will get a new dynamic difficulty level (in addition to “easy” and “normal”), where the enemies get stronger as you do, so you don’t risk outliving yourself and making the game too easy.
