Hogwarts Legacy is a very anticipated Wizarding World game that has just been released and if you are just jumping into the game, or are restarting, then you may want to know these 7 things you should try and do first in your adventure in order to set you up for success later in the game.

Attend Your Classes!

Hogwarts Legacy

One thing that a lot of new gamers will be very tempted to do is to explore the world right as you jump into the game. However, instead of doing this right away it is smart to go to your first classes because if you complete these and some of the mission in the main storyline then you’ll unlock the basic spells, side quests and some valuable items that will help you around Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and the Highlands

Learn the Spell Combos

A lot of the spells that you will be using in your magical battles will only be worthwhile if you have an additional secondary attack to it. An example of this can be seen with the Incendio spell, which is only able to be done when you are in close range, so to effectively use this spell you will have to pair it with another spell such as Accio, which will pull your opponent closer to you and get them in that close range that you need them to be.

A way that you will be able to both practice and learn all of these different spell combos is by speaking to Lucan Brattleby, who can be found at the Clock Tower Courtyard Floo Flame.

Try To Unlock A Lot Of Floo Flames For Faster Travel

Unlock floo flames

Once you get the first glimpses of Hogwarts and the amazing world that you are in, you’ll want nothing more to go around exploring and admiring everything within it. However, for you to be walking everywhere and going up and down the Grand Staircase everytime you want to go to a specific room you’ll quickly realise that this gets very tiring.

If you work on accessing a lot of the Floo Flames locations in the beginning of the game then it will make travelling around the map a lot easier, which will allow you to track all your activities and challenges, which you’re doing, a lot quicker. It is important to check your map once in a while because you don’t want to miss these fast travel points that can be found everywhere in the game world.

Get Extra XP From Field Guide Pages

Once you’ve unlocked basic spells such as Accio, Levioso and Reparo, you’ll actually be able to access new and thrilling quests, both in but also outside of Hogwarts. The positives to having these spells don’t just stop there though, you’ll be able to get even more Field Guide Pages, not just the ones that you were able to find with the Revelio spell.

Each Field Guide Page gives you an additional 80 XP, which is quite a lot in the early stages of your journey and will definitely help you out.

Craft Your Wand!

Craft Your Wand

The first thing that comes to mind when you think of a wizard or witch is their most valued tool, and extension of their arm, their wand. Having a wand will not only be cool, since it will be unique to you, but it will actually further allow you to deal a lot more damage to opponents and you’ll be able to equip it with Wand Handles, which you’ll find during your Hogwarts Legacy journey. Once you get to Hogsmeade you’ll want to head to Ollivanders, southwest of The Three Broomsticks, immediately to acquire this.

Be Curious! Interact With Everything

One thing that is so amazing about the magic castle, and probably is a big reason as to why the frame rate may be inconsistent at times, is that there is almost always more to what just meets the eyes, as everything is imbued with spells and charms. So in order to make sure that you don’t miss anything such as collectibles, equipment and uncovered secrets it may be a good idea for you to just interact with anything and everything.

An example of this can be found in the eastern corridor, where if you interact with the owl statue there it’ll reveal a hidden room in which a treasure chest lies. Another hidden staircase, in Hogsmeade, can be found by interacting with the book inside Tombs and Scrolls.

Finish The Merlin Trials

Finish The Merlin Trials

One thing that a lot of players have complained about when it comes to this game is the fact that your in-game inventory has an extremely small number of slots available for you to use. If you complete these said Merlin Trials you’ll be happy to know that your inventory size will increase, which is good because if you don’t do this then everytime you want to pick up something new you will have to destroy or sell some of your items in your full inventory, in order to make space.

The first trial that you will have to complete from the Merlin Trial will be in the Lower Hogsfield. In order to receive the first gear bonus slot you’ll have to finish at least two of the trials, so you better get to work to receive all the perks.

Final Thoughts

Even though these tips are here to help you progress quicker in the game it is most important that you do take a second to relax and enjoy the game as well. Don’t try to fly through the campaign as fast as possible, try to enjoy the whole experience.
