John Ridley, who wrote and produced the Oscar-winning “12 Years A Slave,” directs the film about the American politician Shirley Chisholm, simply but effectively titled “Shirley”. She was the first black female politician elected to the U.S. Congress in 1968, and in 1972, she was the first black female politician to run for the U.S. presidency.
