Tesla has revealed a new version of its humanoid robot, Optimus, which is said to be faster and lighter than its predecessor. Optimus Gen 2 has also been equipped with additional sensors and a brand new pair of hands.
As shown in the video below, the new version of Optimus can handle delicate items with its new hands, a task relatively complicated with current robot technology. The video also showcases other capabilities of Optimus Gen 2.
Tesla’s vision for Optimus is that the robot will one day be able to replace human labor in performing repetitive tasks. How far in the future this lies remains to be seen. However, judging from the video, Tesla seems to have made significant progress in this direction.
