One thing you miss/really don’t miss with Spotify is that DJ who chit-chats between songs. Now Spotify is releasing a DJ with artificial intelligence. The idea is that the DJ will play music you should like based on your preferences, and between songs a voice will tell you more about the songs and the music.
They’re using two technologies to put together the chatter, first Generative AI from OpenAI that mixes up facts about the music in a way that sounds natural. Then they’re using the Sonantic platform to deliver the text with a voice that sounds realistic. Spotify bought Sonantic last year.
Spotify DJ is now being released in Canada and the USA and is therefore only available in English for now.
