Suunto is back with yet another Finnish-made adventure watch, this time the model Vertical, which offers “unbeatable battery life” and charging via solar power.
The battery life of the watch, which is made of titanium, is up to 85 hours, and in the watch made of stainless steel, it is up to 60 hours. Depending on which adventure watches it is compared to, these are either pretty good numbers or just mediocre. For example, Garmin’s Fenix 7S lasts up to 14 days, while the Apple Watch Ultra is closer to the Vertical in terms of battery life. With the titanium model’s solar charging, you should be able to get up to 30% more charge during sunny days.
Both watches can connect to GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BEIDOU, and QZSS, and up to 32 individual satellites simultaneously. Both also have a screen covered in sapphire glass and are water-resistant up to a hundred meters. The titanium model weighs 74 g and the steel model weighs 86 g.
The watches do not run Wear OS from Google, but can measure things like steps, heart rate, sleep, calories, and stress. There are also 97 different sports modes and the ability to create custom modes.
Suunto Vertical will be released on May 16th.
