A huge reason that Hogwarts Legacy has become so popular is because of their large collection of cut beasts, such as the little Puffskein’s, all the way to the huge majestic ones, such as the Hippogriff. During your adventures within this Wizarding World you’ll definitely come across your fair share of beasts. This game offers 13 different beasts just waiting for you to discover them.
The amazing Wizarding World that you will be placed in and able to explore in this game really wouldn’t be complete if it didn’t have all of these amazing beasts roaming throughout the world. Within the Hogwarts Legacy game you’ll be able to actually interact with a lot of the beasts, which makes this whole experience just that much more interesting because you’ll be able to do more than just admire them from a distance. If you’re wondering where some of the beasts are found in this world you’ll be able to find different dens, where they will be located, on your map. If you’re wondering exactly what type of beasts will be at what den you can check this by just hovering over each of the dens and then it will tell you exactly what type of beasts habitat that is.
In order to capture the beasts that you want in this game you’ll need to first obtain the Nab-Sack and then you’ll be able to capture them through the Nab-Sack to create a menagerie inside of the Room of Requirement. If you are familiar with Newt Scamander, from the Fantastic Beasts film series, you can think of this as your very own version of Newt Scammander’s suitcase. Once you’ve been able to capture these beasts you’ll be able to interact with them inside of this sanctuary, by doing things such as petting and feeding them. When it comes to interacting with all the different beasts there are only three that you are able to mount within this game and those include the Graphorns, Hippogriffs as well as the Thestrals.
Then later you’ll even be able to breed them within the Vivariums, if you have both a male and female beast from the same species that is.
All of the Beasts in the Hogwarts Legacy World
Following this section you’ll find a full list of all of the beasts that you are able to discover in this game as well as a quick description of them, where to find them and their shiny variants.
The puffskeins found in Hogwarts Legacy are round, fluffy beasts that are soft enough for your character to cuddle with but still tough enough for you to have a little bit of fun with and throw around. Although Puffskeins are able to eat almost anything their favourite meal is bogies. These creatures are most commonly known in the game for being household pets, since they’re so easy to look after.
The Puffskein dens are scattered all over the map and are pretty easy to find, since these creatures are so common. As you travel with Sebastian to Hogsmeade, in the early stages of this game, you’ll be able to find one of these dens already. This specific den can be found in the South Hogwarts region, which is to the east of the Forbidden Forest Floo Flame.
The Shiny Puffskeins have white fur compared to the normal Puffskeins.
The Fwooper creature in Hogwarts Legacy is just one of the 13 epic beasts you’ll come across in the game, it is a colourful bird who sings a song known for driving people mad.
In order to locate the Fwooper you’ll need to head over to the Fwooper den, in Hogwarts Valley. The easiest way to get there would be to first travel to the Northern South Sea Bog Floo Flame and then travel in the northwest direction, past the bandit camp, and you should be able to find their den.
The regular Fwoopers come in a variety of colours however, the shiny Fwooper is the only version of the Fwooper that comes in all-white.
The Jobberknoll creature is a pretty small speckled bluebird, which you’ll never hear make any noise until the moments of its death.
The Jobberknoll den is hidden within the Forbidden Forest. In order to reach their den you’ll first need to travel to the North Bog Entrance Floo Flame and then head east and you should come across the den. There also might be poachers roaming around these parts of the forest so make sure to be extra careful here.
When it comes to the colour of the regular Jobberknoll beasts, they’ll come in either blue or green, however if you manage to find a shiny variant they come in the colour grey. This creature is definitely one of the hardest ones to find since it is so small and they like to fly around a lot. So, to make your job of finding them a lot easier it may be a good idea to use your Disillusionment Charm so you can sneak up on them.
The Graphorn is a huge beast that resides in the mountain and has a tough hide and two very big, sharp horns on top of their head.if you have a look at the creature you’ll start to notice all of its crazy features, such as its tentacle-like appendages on its face, which are used to not only capture their food but to tend to their young as well. Even though the Graphorns are quite aggressive creatures, there have still been witches and wizards who have managed to befriend them now and again.
In order to locate the Graphorn den you will need to head to the south-most part of the map in Clagmar Coast. In order to get here more efficiently it is wise to travel to the Clagmar Castle Floo Flame and then head in the southeast direction, where you will stumble upon the Graphorn den. However, in order for this den to be available to you you will need to have completed the San Bakar’s Trial main quest.
This shiny beast variant is definitely one of the most challenging shiny variants to come across and acquire in the whole Hogwarts Legacy game, because there is only one Graphorn that spawns in its den at a time. Not only is it hard to acquire them because there is only one being spawned but you will also need to fight it and lower its HP before you are even able to use your Nab-Sack. The regular Graphorns are light brown and the shiny counterparts come in a grey/white colour.
The Mooncalf is a small creature, which similarly resembles a calf-like beast, but instead this one has enormous eyes and is extremely shy. If you are lucky enough to see one of these creatures when the light of the full moon hits the ground you’ll get to see them dancing.
The Mooncalf Dens are pretty common and easy to come across. You’ll be able to find one in the Forbidden Forest, right next to the North Ford Bog Entrance Floo Flame. Be sure to start looking for their den at night because Mooncalves can only be found at nightime and if you do happen to come across their den during the day all you’ll need to do is open up your map and click on your “wait” button to fast forward time to night time.
Both the male and female Mooncalves come in the same size, however they are found in a variety of different colours. However, if you come across the shiny variant then they’ll appear white in colour with blue eyes.
The Unicorn, as many people know, are shy and beautiful beasts that have a horn coming from its head. People believe the foals to have shimmering golden coats.
The Unicorn Den is located within the Forbidden Forest. In order to find it you’ll need to travel to the East North Ford Bog Entrance Floo Flame and then head in the south direction, where you should be able to come across the den. This is the only Unicorn Den that the Wizarding World has.
Finding the shiny variant of this creature is definitely very tough because there is only one den in the whole game and not only that but only one Unicorn will spawn at a time here as well. The normal Unicorn comes in a white colour and then the shiny variant of this creature is a gold-like colour.
This creature is small, furry and pretty mischievous. The Niffler enjoys causing mayhem, trying to find shiny objects, which it will then take and store within its marsupial-like pouch.
The Niffler Den is located in the Hogwarts Valley. In order to get to it, you will need to fast travel to the Keenbridge Floo Flame and then head in the east direction, where you should come across the den, right next to a tree that is lit up with a few lanterns.
The normal Nifflers come in the blue and green colours and then the shiny variant of these creatures comes in a light grey colour.
Giant Purple Toad
The Giant Purple Toad, as you probably would’ve been able to guess from its name, is a large magical toad with warts and quite useful for your potion-making.
The den for this creature is found in the South Hogwarts Region, next to Aranshire. To get to the den you’ll need to travel to the Aranshire Floo Flame and then head up north, and you should be able to find the den right under the train tracks.
Shiny Giant Purple Toad
The regular toad colour is light purple but the shiny variant of this creature will come in an extremely pale looking colour with red eyes.
The Thestral beast in Hogwarts Legacy is a haunted, winged equine beast, which you are only able to see if you are someone who has seen death.
This creature’s den is found in the northern section of the Hogwarts Legacy map, in the North Ford Bog. in order to get here, you’ll need to travel to East North Ford Bog Floo Flame and then head north from there to find the den.
The shiny variants of the Thestrals come in a light grey, almost white, colour, which actually almost has a chrome-like appearance in the sunlight.
This creature is one of the most majestic beasts in the game, as it has a truly beautiful front half of an eagle with the appearance of a horse in the back. This great beast is able to fly up to great heights and for far distances. Each person that encounters this beast will really be in awe and give respect to it.
The den for these awesome creatures is found in the Manor Cape, in order to get here you’ll need to first travel to the West Manor Cape Floo Flame and then head in the south direction to find the Hippogriffs there, by the ruins.
The regular Hippogriffs come in a white colour while their shiny counterparts are grey in colour.
The Kneazle is a cat-like beast in Hogwarts Legacy, they have big ears and a thick tail. These beasts are known to be a bit aggressive, however if you manage to befriend them then they will make an exceptional pet to any witch or wizard. These beasts are also excellent judges of character as they are highly intelligent and can detect suspicious or distrustful people, which may come in handy.
The location of the Kneazle den is in Hogwarts Valley at Brucborrow. In order to get here you’ll first need to travel to the Brucborrow Floo Flame and then head in the south direction to find the den.
The normal Kneazles come in a brown/grey colour and then the shiny variants of this creature come in more of a light brown or orange colour.
Diricawls are some pretty fat birds, who are actually incapable of flying and will just be able to trot around. In order to escape danger, these birds have the unique ability to disappear and then reappear in another location. Muggles once knew about these creatures and called them Dodos, but nowadays the Muggles believe them all to be extinct.
The Diricawl den is located southwest of the West Hogwarts Alley Floo Flame, next to the ruins on the hill. You’ll need to beware of your surroundings here because Inferius enemies are known to spawn next to this den no and again.
The regular Diricawls can come in a variety of colours but the shiny variant of these creatures come in an all white colour. With these creatures you’ll definitely want to use your Disillusionment Charm because if they get startled by you they’ll vanish and try to escape you.
The Phoenix beast in this game is truly an elegant, rare creature that actually possesses some powerful magic. Once the creature has burst into flames it is able to be reborn again, from its ashes. The loyalty that the phoenix will give to someone is definitely hard won.
In order to even be able to find the Phoenix you’ll first need to complete a side quest called Phoenix Rising, which will be given to you from Deek. Then later in your Hogwarts Legacy adventure you’ll be tasked, by Deek, to find the Phoenix and bring it back to the Room of Requirement.
Since there is only one Phoenix in the whole game, the one that you will find in the quest mentioned above, there won’t be a shiny variant of this beast.
All the beasts in this game are so beautiful so it is definitely recommended to go out and adopt as many as possible into your Vivariums so that you’ll have a cool collection that you can go and admire now and again.
