One of the rarest creatures in this game, and one that every player in Hogwarts wants to get their hands on, is the Hippogriff.

The Hippogriff

The Hippogriff is one of the rarest mythical creatures in the Harry Potter universe and is a half-eagle half-horse beast that is able to command the respect of anyone who approaches it. Even though you may think that flying through the air on your broomstick is thrilling, nothing will quite compare to the experience that you would have of flying over these beautiful lands on a Hippogriff.

This article is a full guide as to what you will need to do in order to get your hands on one of these Hippogriffs, not only that but also when and where in the Hogwarts Legacy game you will be able to find one.

How to Get the Hippogriff

How to Get the Hippogriff

The first thing that you will need to do, before you even consider going after a Hippogriff is making sure that you have advanced far enough in the main campaign of the game, all the way up until you have attended your first Beast Class.

The first encounter that you have with a Hippogriff will only happen after one of these classes. This Hippogriff that you will have encountered is called Highwing and was befriended by Poppy Sweeting, after she had managed to save its life from a group of poachers.

Once you’ve completed this main storyline quest you’ll want to then head on over and speak to Deek, who can be found within the Room of Requirement. You will need to speak to him to obtain something called the Nap-Sack, which is a magical item that allows you to be able to not only rescue beasts but also have a safe place to store them. It will be a good idea to learn how to use this Nap-Sack, but after this you just have to keep following the main questline, up until you get to a quest that goes by the name of The High Keep.

During this quest, The High Keep, you’ll just need to follow all of the quest objectives and infiltrate the Falbarton Castle with Natsai Onai. Once you make it halfway through this quest, you’ll find that both you and Natsai Onai have found Highwing, who has unfortunately been captured by Theophilus Harlow’s men.

How to Rescue Highwing

Since Hippogriffs are so rare, you’d understand that they are hunted quite often by poachers. The thing that people seek these beasts out most for are their feathers. In this quest you’ll find that Highwing, as well as another Hippogriff, have been captured by these poachers and you’ll need to free them.

All you’ll have to do during this quest is follow the objectives. First you’ll need to climb up the castle, while being careful of the Dark Wizards who are patrolling the vicinity, and won’t hesitate to attack, as they are most likely one of the most powerful enemies that you have encountered so far in the game.

As you’re progressing through this quest you’ll make your way up the castle floors and on one of them you’ll have the option to rescue two Puffskeins as well as a Niffler, who have been trapped inside of a cage room. Since they’re both already in a small space it won’t be hard for you to save them using your newly acquired item, the Nap-Sack.

hop on onto Highwing and fly away

Then when you make it to the top of this castle, during the quest, a cutscene will commence and feature both you and Natsai Onai freeing the two Hippogriffs. Once you free these Hippogriffs you’ll be the one to hop on onto Highwing and fly away, above Hogsmeade Valley, in order to escape Harlow’s men.

Final Words

This is simply all you will have to do in order to have Highwing, the Hippogriff, as your mount in Hogwarts Legacy. From now on, once you finish this quest, you’ll be able to summon her, by holding LB/L2/Tab and pressing Y/🔺/2 ( on Xbox, PS, or PC respectively)  whenever you please as you roam the open world.
