Samsung is joining several organizations that prohibit their employees from using generative AI like OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The new policy is being implemented due to concerns that employees may upload sensitive code and that it will then be stored on external servers, making it difficult for Samsung to find and delete the content.
The company reportedly conducted an internal survey on the use of AI services last month, in which 65 percent of respondents reportedly believed that these types of services pose a security risk.
Samsung’s new rules prohibit the use of generative AI on the company’s computers, tablets, and phones, as well as on its internal network. However, it does not affect the company’s devices sold to consumers.
