Mortal Kombat 1 officially releases today, but it has been available in ‘early access’ since last week for those who purchased the more expensive editions. The game has received good reviews, but people are not entirely satisfied with the Switch version.

As expected, the graphics have been scaled down a bit on Nintendo’s console, but despite that, the game suffers from significant performance issues and is perceived as very choppy. This is especially problematic in a game with a strong emphasis on timing and quick reactions to what the opponent is doing.

Criticism has been particularly aimed at the character models, leading to somewhat comical comparisons on Twitter. Many are questioning why NetherRealm is charging the full price for the game. Some even go so far as to suggest that it would have been better to skip the Switch version and simply wait for Nintendo’s next console.
