In this article you’ll get a full guide about the Glyphs in the Diablo IV game where we’ll discuss exactly what glyphs are and how they can be used and upgraded.

Diablo IV Glyphs

Hopefully after you’ve read this you’ll be a lot more confident when making any decisions involving Glyphs.

What Are Glyphs

What Are Glyphs

Glyphs are essentially just endgame perks, which you’ll be able to actually slot into a Paragon Board in order to get even more bonuses for your Diablo IV character. It is important to also note that these Glyphs won’t start to drop until after you’ve managed to complete your first Capstone Dungeon and thus gain access to World Tier 3, however they’ll become available to you already when you reach level 50 with your character.

Once you’ve managed to accumulate a few Paragon Points, you’ll finally be able to buy your first empty Glyph Socket on your first Paragon Board and then select a Glyph to put into this socket. You don’t have to be too stressed about this decision as it isn’t permanent and you’ll be able to swap it out at any time you want to.

So essentially after you’ve chosen a Glyph from your roster of ones that you’ve unlocked to go into this socket, it’ll be added and apply whatever effect that it has to offer.

How to Improve the Glyph Effect

How to Improve the Glyph Effect

Most of the Glyphs that you get will have perks that are only as good as the nearby perks that you’ve selected in close range of the Glyph socket. An example of this is that if you have a “Charged” Glyph it’ll then give a 3.5% increased damage to Crackling Energy for every single 5 Intelligence that you purchase within the range of the Glyph Socket. If you want to view the radius at which these scaled perks will be buffed, you just simply have to hover over the socketed Glyph and then look for an outline of red nodes that will be surrounding the Glyph that you’re checking.

Glyphs won’t just have a base perk though, they’ll also give you some additional bonuses that will only be activated if specific requirements are met. An example of this is the “Charged” Glyph again, which can give you up to 15% more damage if you buy 40 Intelligence within this Glyphs radius.

Upgrading a Glyph

You’ll be pleased to know that you are able to upgrade Glyphs, to increase their effects, which you can do by completing Nightmare Dungeons. When you’ve worked through a Nightmare Dungeon and get to the end, you’ll witness an Awakened Glyph spawn with a protective bubble shield that surrounds it.

Upgrading a Glyph

After you’ve interacted with this Glyph, you’ll then be able to give the XP that you earned from this Nightmare Dungeon to any Glyph that you choose. Then once this Glyph has gained enough XP, it’ll level up and gain stronger effects as a result. You will still be able to upgrade Glyphs even when they are allocated to a socket, and if you do this it’ll also improve any effects currently applied immediately. Whereas, if you decide to upgrade a Glyph that you have yet to socket, you won’t see these benefits be applied to your character unless it is socketed and any conditions for it are also met.

Final Words

So, there you have a full breakdown of what Glyphs are and also how to upgrade them to boost your characters performance. Hopefully when you play the Diablo IV game again, you’ll have a much better understanding around the concept of Glyphs and will be able to use this new knowledge to your advantage to boost your character’s performance.
