Larian Studios, the developers behind the acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3, announced yesterday that they have finally found a solution to bring the game to Xbox Series X/S.

Baldur's Gate 3

The PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3 was released earlier this month, and the game will be released for Playstation 5 and macOS on September 6. Larian had always stated that Baldur’s Gate 3 would come to Xbox Series X/S, but apparently had difficulty making the split-screen mode in the co-op feature look good on the Xbox Series S, which has slightly lower performance than the Xbox Series X.

Microsoft had previously required games released on Xbox Series X/S to have the same functionality. This has posed a challenge for Larian, who naturally wants their game to look as good as possible, in releasing the game on Microsoft’s latest game consoles. However, during the Gamescom event, Microsoft seems to have reached an agreement with Larian that they would be granted an exception and could omit the split-screen mode for the co-op feature in the Xbox Series S version of the game.

This likely means that we might see a release of Baldur’s Gate 3 for Xbox Series X/S this year, even though a confirmed release date is still pending.
