In 2019, Tesla began manufacturing Model 3 and Model Y at the Shanghai factory. In August of last year, they reached one million units produced, and yesterday, they hit the next milestone – two million.
It took 33 months to reach one million but only 13 months to reach two million. The car that pushed them over the figure was a red Model Y. Last month, Tesla sold 84,159 cars in China, marking a 9.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The cars manufactured at the Shanghai factory are not only sold in China but also in Europe, Canada, and Australia.
