Earlier this year, Forbes reported that Elon Musk would start an AI company, and yesterday it was officially announced.
Musk’s new AI company is called xAI and, according to the company’s website, aims to “understand the true nature of the universe.” Musk has previously stated his intention to build an uncensored chatbot called TruthGPT, although it is unclear if xAI will specifically focus on that.
Among the dozen individuals hired at xAI are people with backgrounds at OpenAI, the company behind the notable chatbot ChatGPT. Others at the company have previously worked at DeepMind, Google Research, Microsoft Research, and Tesla.
xAI further states that it is an independent company from X Corp but will collaborate with X (Twitter), Tesla, and other companies.
