Yesterday, NASA revealed the four astronauts who will have the opportunity to participate in their upcoming moon mission, Artemis 2. The four individuals who have been selected are Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and Christina Koch from NASA, and Jeremy Hansen from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA).

Vanessa Wyche, the director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center, stated regarding the four astronauts selected for the first manned moon mission in over 50 years:

For the first time in more than 50 years, these individuals – the Artemis II crew – will be the first humans to fly to the vicinity of the Moon. Among the crew are the first woman, first person of color, and first Canadian on a lunar mission, and all four astronauts will represent the best of humanity as they explore for the benefit of all. This mission paves the way for the expansion of human deep space exploration and presents new opportunities for scientific discoveries, commercial, industry and academic partnerships and the Artemis Generation.

The three American astronauts who will be joining Artemis 2 to the moon have previously been on the International Space Station, while this will be Jeremy Hansen’s first space journey. Artemis 2 does not yet have a confirmed launch date, but it is scheduled to depart for the moon at the earliest in November 2024.

Below is a video clip from NASA where the four Artemis astronauts introduce themselves more closely.
