Meta announces that it will now allow children under the age of 13 to create accounts to experience content on the company’s VR headset, Quest. The new age limit means that children between the ages of 10 and 12 can create accounts with their parents’ consent. Parents must be involved in the account creation process, and they can also set up parental controls to monitor and manage the type of experiences their children engage with on the Meta Quest headsets.

In the United States, companies are not permitted to collect data from children under the age of 13 without parental consent. This seems to be the primary reason why Meta had not previously offered children under 13 the ability to create accounts for Meta Quest.
