The gaming platform Roblox has long been immensely popular among children and teenagers. However, now the company behind Roblox wants to expand its audience and allow content aimed at individuals over 17 years old.
Yesterday, they announced that 38 percent of their 66.1 million daily visitors are 17 years or older, and users between 17 and 24 years old are the fastest-growing group on the platform. To cater to this target audience, Roblox will now allow more adult content. Games for this audience will be permitted to include “intense violence, heavily realistic blood, moderate crude humor, romantic themes and/or alcohol use.
Sexual content, nudity, references to illegal drugs, and graphic violence, however, remain prohibited. So people who were hoping for a lot of Roblox porn will have to continue hanging out on strange forums.
In order to access the 17+ content, users must be a verified user. To become verified, users need to submit a photo of their ID card/passport along with a selfie.
