In the new LEGO game mode of Fortnite, you’ll be able to expand your settlements by recruiting Villagers, but before you are able to just do this, several requirements need to be met in order for them to be able to move in.

How to recruit Villagers in LEGO Fortnite

The foundation of any thriving settlement in LEGO Fortnite will be the Villagers and they tend to generate in the wilderness now and again and are more than willing to set up shop in your town, however getting them to stay permanently is a little more difficult, as they have several requirements for you to meet first.

These Fortnite Villagers will really just wander around, which means that you won’t be able to find them in a specific location. Finding Villagers is really quite a simple task as they will even just walk right into your settlement if you’ve got a Village Square, which is truly a basic utility item that everyone should have as it only sets you back 10 Wood and 10 Granite. However, from there you will need to then craft some more items and meet some more specific requirements in order to start recruiting these new Villagers wandering around.

Adding Villagers to Settlements

So without further adieu, here is a guide on how to recruit a Villager; the first thing that you’ll need to do is craft a bed for them to sleep on and this costs no more than just 10 Wood. You technically don’t have to place these beds inside a structure, but it would definitely be a nice gesture to have their bed placed in a building like a Simple Shack so that they won’t have to sleep outside.

Now the next thing that you’ll actually have to make sure that you do is to have extra capacity in your Village so you’re able to welcome more arrivals. At first, you’ll only be able to have space for a single Villager to stay in your Village permanently and if you want to unlock more slots for Villagers you’ll need to increase your Village Capacity, which you do by upgrading your Village.

Before you’re able to upgrade your Village you’ll need to craft and spend materials to be able to buy your next upgrade. The first upgrade that you’ll need to do in your Village requires 15 Wood and 15 Granite, which definitely isn’t too bad at all, however you can expect the costs to increase quite substantially from this point onwards. You sadly won’t unlock a slot for a Villager with every upgrade that you do to your Village, but there are plenty of other useful benefits that you’ll get instead.

Now, once you have some extra slots for more Villagers it’s as simple as just walking up to them and then inviting them to live in your settlement, which you do by just chatting with them. A cool fact to know about Villagers and your Village level is that once you’ve reach Village Level 5, then rarer Villagers will start joining your Village, so you’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for them.

What Do These Villagers Even Do?

You may just want Villagers in your Village because it’ll look cool and make your Village a lot livelier, but they do some really helpful things for you. Once a Villager is recruited to your Village, they’ll be able to take on a heap of different jobs in order to help your Village out. Some of these jobs include working at crafting stations, cooking, mining as well as collecting nearby resources, which could include things such as fruits and vegetables. Furthermore, these Villagers won’t just do whatever job they please, but you will actually be able to assign jobs to specific Villagers, which as a result allows you to focus on specific aspects of settlement life. And then finally, as quite a nice bonus, they also give you gifts.
