After the success of “Super Mario Bros. Movie” at the box office, which generated a lot of revenue, rumors are now circulating that Nintendo wants to make a film about “The Legend of Zelda”.
It’s no surprise that Nintendo wants to capitalize on this success. According to a rumor reported by GamesRadar+, another game from the Japanese gaming giant is now set to become a film.
“I’ve heard that Universal is working on a deal with Nintendo for ‘The Legend of Zelda’, which seems to be the next big Nintendo project from Illumination, as we all expected. I’ve heard that it’s happening,” journalist Jeff Sneider revealed on The Hot Mic podcast.
In the “Legend of Zelda” games, players control the character Link, who must save the world of Hyrule together with Princess Zelda from the evil Ganon. Since the first game was released in 1986, there have been 19 installments, including classics like “A Link to the Past” and “Ocarina of Time”.
The latest installment, “Tears of the Kingdom,” was released last month. As of now, Super Mario Bros. Movie has grossed $1.3 billion and is currently the most successful film of 2023. If “Zelda” becomes a film, we can expect similar numbers.
