Sony is acquiring the premium headphone manufacturer Audeze. The manufacturer will continue to operate as an independent unit, developing products for various platforms while benefiting from being part of the PlayStation ecosystem, Sony stated.
Audeze’s headphones are among the relatively few in the market that use planar magnetic drivers, which is why it was quite unexpected that Sony incorporated this technology into their new Pulse Explore and Pulse Elite models. However, PlayStation’s acquisition of the company provides an explanation for this move.
