Despite upgrading the numbers in its S-chip every time it released a new Apple Watch, the smartwatch hasn’t actually received any performance upgrades since the Apple Watch Series 6 with S6, which was released in 2020.
However, it seems that this will change later this year. According to reliable Mark Gurman, this year’s Apple Watch will get a new chip based on the same architecture as the A15 chip in the iPhone 13 series.
This should not only lead to better performance, but also perhaps more importantly, better efficiency, which hopefully will result in even longer battery life.
