Apple seems to be aiming to make fast chargers the standard for the Apple Watch by introducing a new requirement for third-party accessory manufacturers later this year.

Apple forces accessory manufacturers to support fast charging

Previously, Apple offered companies the choice between an older charging module with slower speeds or a newer module for fast charging. Now, Apple will cease offering the older charging module, and all accessories manufactured after September 30th (the date Apple stops supplying the old module) will be equipped with the new fast charging module.

This means that the availability of third-party accessories capable of quickly charging the Apple Watch will increase. However, a downside is that the new fast charging module is more expensive, which could lead to higher prices.

The Apple Watch models that support fast charging include the Apple Watch Series 7, Apple Watch Series 8, and Apple Watch Ultra.
