The Wall Street Journal reports that the usage of Meta’s Twitter variant, Threads, has decreased by around 70 percent since the reported record numbers at the beginning of the month.
This decline is not entirely unexpected, as the functionality is not particularly attractive right now, leading people to simply not stay engaged. This situation is reminiscent of the Google+ phenomenon, which was also a service that was supposed to dominate social media and initially showed impressive user numbers.
However, despite many having accounts, few actually used the service, leading to Google eventually shutting it down.
