In 2016 Facebook rolled out SMS support in its messaging app, Messenger, but now the app will stop supporting SMS as of September 28th.
Users who use Messenger as their default SMS app will no longer be able to send and receive text messages after updating the app on September 28th. Facebook also recommends Android users to switch their default messaging app to either Google Messages or the phone’s default messaging app.
