Xiaomi has finally unveiled its latest flagship phone, which completes the other phones in the 13 series. The new phone, called the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, features a 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor with a variable aperture between f/1.9 and f/4.0.
Xiaomi is not the first manufacturer to offer a variable aperture; Sony and Samsung have also tested similar technology in their phones, and like those devices, the aperture can only be switched between the two modes, so it is not possible to smoothly adjust between them.
The quad-camera setup on the back also includes a 50-megapixel f/1.8 ultra-wide angle lens that uses the Sony IMX858 with a 122-degree FOV. There are also two telephoto cameras, both using a 50-megapixel Sony IMX858. One is at 75mm (2.5x) f/3.0 and the other at 120mm (5x) f/3.0. The cameras are also said to use optics from Leica.
If we shift our focus away from the phone’s cameras, we find a 6.73-inch 120 Hz QHD+ AMOLED screen powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, along with 12 or 16 GB of RAM. It can be configured with up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The 5000 mAh battery can be fast charged with 90 W or wirelessly with 50 W.
The phone will be available in black, olive green, and white with a synthetic leather finish.
