Assassin’s Creed Mirage, a VR game, and a mobile game are on the way from French studio Ubisoft.
After the unnecessarily large and ambitious Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ubisoft returns to the series’ roots with the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
This time, we follow Basim Ibn Ishaq in 9th-century Baghdad, 20 years before the events of “Valhalla.” Ubisoft promises a more focused and shorter game, with more emphasis on stealth and assassination compared to the recent titles.
During the Ubisoft Forward event, 7 minutes of footage from Assassin’s Creed Mirage were shown, which clearly resembles a more classic Assassin’s Creed, which, in my opinion, is a positive thing after the somewhat overly elaborate maps.
What we see really brings to mind the first “Assassin’s Creed” from 2007 or its sequel “Assassin’s Creed II,” with a lot of focus on moving unnoticed and assassinating people in the shadows.
The game will be released on October 12th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It is also considered a somewhat smaller game compared to “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla,” both in terms of content and price, as it will be sold for $50 compared to the approximately $70 for AAA games today.
An interesting detail is that “Mirage” started as an expansion to “Valhalla” before becoming its own standalone game.
Another game showcased during the event is “Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR,” which allows you to play as Ezio from “Assassin’s Creed II” and its sequel, as well as Kassandra from “Assassin’s Creed Odyssey” and Connor from “Assassin’s Creed III” in virtual reality using the Meta Quest VR 2 and 3 headsets.
The game will be released later this year.
Ubisoft also has a mobile game in the works called “Assassin’s Creed: Codename Jade,” set in China. Honestly, it doesn’t look overly impressive. The game will have a private beta later this year.
