Game streaming service Twitch has announced a new partner program that means streamers can receive higher compensation if they have a sufficient number of paying subscribers.

Currently, Twitch takes 50 percent of the revenue generated by a streamer through ad views and subscription earnings. Under the new model, Twitch will take 30 percent of the revenue, while the streamer will receive the remaining 70 percent.

Twitch’s new partner program, “Partner Plus,” with the revised revenue sharing, will launch on October 1st. To be eligible for Partner Plus, streamers must have at least 350 paying subscribers for three consecutive months.

The new partner program from Twitch is being introduced in response to recent criticism the platform has received for restricting the amount and type of ads that streamers can display during their broadcasts.
