You can’t discount the fact that many have been waiting for years for the release of The Elder Scrolls 6. So when the announcement finally popped out in E3 2018, it has given a ray of hope that they have not waited in vain after all.

What Took The Elder Scrolls 6 So Long?
The announcement made at the E3 also hinted about a further delay to the release of The Elder Scrolls 6. This is because of the trailer that was intended for Starfield. Not much can be revealed about the game, but it might get the go signal first before the much awaited 6th installment.
Based from the interview with Bethesda executive Todd Howard, it can be concluded that the development might not fully favor The Elder Scrolls 6 yet. This can extend after Starfield will be released, which can take a matter of years.
The good news is that Starfield is currently playable, according to Howard himself. Furthermore, The Elder Scrolls 6 is now in the pre-production stage. Therefore, you can say that the game can be on its way towards production. Who knows, it will be a timely release when the next generation of gaming consoles will be out. But you can expect it to happen sometime in late 2019 or early 2020s just to be safe.
