Nintendo has just announced, to the public, that they will be adding GameBoy as well as GameBoy Advance games to their Nintendo Switch Online subscription service that they have been offering since September of 2018.

GameBoy and GameBoy Advance Games are being added to Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo had a Nintendo Direct event, on the 9th of February, where they revealed the big news of these games to be included with the basic Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Sadly, not all the games will be included in this basic package, in order to have access to the GameBoy Advance games you’ll have to get them as part of the premium Expansion Pack upgrade for the Switch Online subscription.

Games included for the GameBoy:

  • Tetris
  • Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
  • The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX
  • Gargoyle’s Quest
  • Game and Watch Gallery 3
  • Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare
  • Metroid 2: Return of Samus
  • Wario Land 3
  • Kirby’s Dream Land

Games included for the GameBoy Advance:

  • Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3
  • WarioWare Inc: Mega MicroGames
  • Kuru Kuru Kuruin
  • Mario Kart: Super Circuit
  • Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

If one of the games that you were looking forward to wasn’t on this list then you can wait a while and you just might get lucky as Nintendo has said that there are more games coming, to both platforms, in the future.

Nintendo Switch Online – Game Boy & Game Boy Advance Announcement – Nintendo Direct 2.8.23

Games for N64 and Sega Genesis were made available last year, in October, thanks to the new Expansion Pack for Nintendo Switch Online, that Nintendo had just launched. Although a lot of players did complain that these older games were lagging, while being played, these games did at the very least run at 60Hz.

Since the launch of this and the arrival of these problems, Nintendo has definitely made improvements and has even added Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask to their lineup of games. So now with the addition of the GameBoy games there will just be loads more nostalgia for the Nintendo gamers out there.
