In March, the IOC Olympic Esports Series announced that a competition with ten virtual events would be held to include e-sports in some form of Olympic context. Disciplines such as archery, baseball, cycling, sailing, dance, racing, taekwondo, and tennis. For example, dance will be represented by Just Dance, while racing will be represented by some gaming in Gran Turismo. Other sports will be represented by various mobile games, which doesn’t sound very exciting.

Now a tenth game has been added, which is Fortnite as the e-sports discipline of “sport shooting”. The IOC has previously stated that they would never include “killer games” in their competitions, but apparently Fortnite doesn’t fit that category. In any case, twelve top players from the Fortnite Champion Series 2023 will be invited to the competition.
