Things didn’t go well for People Can Fly’s “Outriders”, the live service game the studio released in collaboration with Square Enix in 2021. However, the studio is responsible for games like “Bulletstorm” and “Painkiller”, so they certainly have the expertise to release something really good.
We hope that their next project, according to a report to the company’s investors, will be an AAA game to be published by Microsoft. It is currently referred to as “Project Maverick” and is expected to have a total budget of $30-50 million.
Microsoft is fully funding the project, and the game will also be based on an intellectual property owned by Microsoft. The agreement was reached just a few days ago, so don’t expect to see or hear anything concrete about the game for a while.
As far as we know, People Can Fly is also working on a “groundbreaking project” that Take-Two was previously involved in. However, Take-Two withdrew from the project last year when People Can Fly stated that it would not be a problem to release the game on their own.
