According to a rumor on Weibo, the iPhone 15 series may offer support for wireless charging at speeds of up to 15W with non-Made for iPhone certified chargers, which are typically more affordable alternatives to Apple-certified chargers.

The iPhone 15 is rumored to support wireless charging of up to 15W

This would be an improvement compared to the iPhone 12, 13, and 14, which require either Apple’s official MagSafe magnetic wireless chargers or a third-party magnetic charger with MagSafe to achieve 15W wireless fast charging. With a standard Qi-certified wireless charger, these models only reach up to 7.5W.

Apple has been involved in creating the new Qi2 standard, which, like MagSafe, utilizes magnets to establish the best possible contact with the charging device. Therefore, it is not entirely surprising if the iPhone 15 would have better support for third-party wireless chargers.
