Today, Pokemon Go creator Niantic releases its latest mobile game, Peridot. It’s a game where the player takes care of a digital pet and is tasked with raising and taking care of it, not unlike the popular Tamagotchis from the 1990s.
Like Pokémon Go, it’s an augmented reality game where players use their phone’s camera to have their “dot” play, eat, and be petted in the environment around the player. There’s also an opportunity to meet other players’ “dots” and connect them. They can then create a little dot baby that inherits traits from both dots that created it. Apart from that, there doesn’t seem to be much else to do at the moment.
Peridot is available for iOS in the App Store and for Android on Google. Above is a release trailer for Niantic‘s new game. If you want to read a longer review of Peridot, you can find one at The Verge here.
