EA announced this week that they will be shutting down servers for a number of their older games. Perhaps not very surprising, considering it’s reasonable to assume that the player base for these games isn’t very large anymore.
However, it’s still disappointing as many of these games have significant online components that will completely disappear when the servers are shut down. On September 7th, EA will shut down the servers for Crysis 3, followed by a batch of Battlefield games in early December.
The servers for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 might not be mourned by many, but the ones for the Battlefield Bad Company series and FIFA 18 to 21 might sting for more players.
