Amazon has acquired the rights to Liam Neeson’s chilly sequel “Ice Road 2: Road To The Sky”.
As the Cannes Film Week is coming to an end, Amazon is now purchasing the rights to Liam Neeson’s upcoming film “Ice Road 2: Road To The Sky,” according to Deadline. The price tag is a staggering $17 million, and Amazon will be able to stream the sequel on Prime Video in all countries except Germany.
In “Ice Road 2: Road To The Sky,” Neeson returns as truck driver Mike McCann. The setting shifts from northern Canada to Nepal. After his brother’s passing, Neeson must fulfill his final wish by spreading his ashes from the world’s tallest mountain, Mount Everest.
What wouldn’t one do for family? On his way to the summit, the protagonist encounters Nepalese mercenaries, and it’s up to Neeson and his team to save the day. In addition to Neeson, the film’s director and screenwriter, Jonathan Hensleigh, will also be returning.
Filming is set to begin in early 2024, so we can expect “Ice Road 2: Road To The Sky” to be released in 2025.
