A new Karate Kid movie is in the works, featuring Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio. Sony Pictures announced yesterday that they will be producing a new Karate Kid movie, with both Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio participating.
Ralph Macchio played the original karate kid and also has a leading role in Cobra Kai, the TV series based on The Karate Kid. Jackie Chan played the role of Mr. Han in the 2010 remake of The Karate Kid, where Jaden Smith played the karate kid Dre Parker.
Who will play the karate kid in the upcoming The Karate Kid is not yet clear. Sony has announced an open casting call, inviting teenagers of Asian descent to audition for the role. The new Karate Kid movie is scheduled to premiere on December 13, 2024. In the video clip above, you can hear Macchio and Chan talk more about the upcoming film.
