If you were fascinated by the game world in Hideo Kojima‘s peculiar game Death Stranding but not so keen on acting as a courier, you can now look forward to the film studio behind successes like Moonlight, Everything Everywhere All At Once, and Midsommar producing a movie based on the game.
Death Stranding is set in an apocalyptic version of the USA where the main character Sam Porter Bridges, portrayed by Norman Reedus, wanders through the wilderness to deliver packages. During his missions, he must avoid invisible creatures that can be fought with feces bombs, rain that ages everything it touches, and fanatics obsessed with stealing packages. Sam is assisted by a baby in a container, which has the ability to bridge the boundary between life and death.
In addition to Norman Reedus, the game featured other Hollywood stars like Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, and even Guillermo del Toro. Whether any of these will return to reprise their roles in the film version remains to be seen. It also remains to be seen when the film will premiere.
