Today, Apple is finally releasing its highly anticipated app specifically designed for classical music – Apple Music Classical. Since Apple acquired the company Primesonic in 2021, there have been rumors that Apple would release its own app for classical music, which it is now doing.
The new app is said to offer the world’s largest catalog of classical music, streaming in lossless, spatial audio, and a search function tailored to classical music. Users can search for composer, work, conductor, and catalog number, among other things.
The app is installed separately from Apple Music but is included in the subscription for Apple Music or Apple One. Songs added to Classical will also be added to your regular music library in Apple Music. Settings for things like Lossless are also controlled from the same settings as the regular Music app.
Apple Music Classical is available for download on the App Store for iOS now, although strangely, there is no iPad app available at this time.
