On Monday, Apple unveiled the fourteenth version of macOS, and in connection with that, they also announced which of their computers will be able to run the new macOS Sonoma.
In general, it can be said that all Macs running on Apple Silicon chips will be able to run macOS Sonoma. However, there are a few Intel-based Macs that will be able to take advantage of the new version of Apple’s operating system.
When it comes to Macs without Apple’s security chip, the T2, there is only one computer, the 2019 iMac, that will receive support for macOS Sonoma.
In the list above, you will find the Mac computers that will be able to run macOS Sonoma. However, for older computers, Apple typically continues to release security updates for the previous versions of the operating systems for two to three years after they are released.
