Shortly after US President Joe Biden announced yesterday that he is running for re-election, the Republican Party released a campaign video generated with artificial intelligence.
The video is titled “Beat Biden” and uses AI-generated images that are said to show what will happen if Joe Biden is re-elected in the 2024 presidential election. In the video, they play with the idea that China invades Taiwan, the economy is in freefall, and immigration and crime in the US increase significantly.
Which AI service was used to generate the images seen in the clip above is not specified. There is speculation that it may be Stable Diffusion by Stability AI, which has no restrictions on generating political material, something that competitors Midjourney and DALL-E 2 have been provided with.
