In the upcoming sequel to 2019’s “Captain Marvel,” titled “The Marvels,” Brie Larson reprises her role as Carol Danvers. This time, she shares the spotlight with two other female MCU stars, Teyonah Parris from “WandaVision” and Iman Vellani from “Ms. Marvel.”
“The Marvels” takes place after the events of “Ms. Marvel,” which introduced Vellani as the young New Jersey superhero Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel.
The first look at “The Marvels” was shown exclusively to attendees at the 2022 D23 Expo before the release of the trailer. The initial footage reveals the aftermath of the post-credits scene in “Ms. Marvel,” where Kamala seemingly swapped places with Carol. The teaser for “The Marvels” picks up shortly after, showing Captain Monica Rambeau (Parris) working as an astronaut for Saber Space Station alongside Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). When Monica hits a jump point in the space continuum, she transforms into Ms. Marvel, confirming that she, Carol, and Kamala share a unique set of transformative powers.
