HBO announced this week that they will not renew the detective series Perry Mason for a third season, despite the second season ending with a juicy cliffhanger.
The series was set in 1930s Los Angeles, a city thriving while the rest of the country was in the midst of the Great Depression. We followed private investigator-turned-lawyer Perry Mason as he tackled unexpectedly intricate cases.
The reasons for the cancellation are unclear, but we speculate that the show likely failed to attract a significant audience while also incurring high production costs. Personally, I was never a big fan of the series, but it’s certainly disappointing for the dozens who enjoyed it.
