The U.S. organization Semiconductor Industry Association states that Chinese company Huawei has found a way to circumvent the sanctions that prohibit Huawei from importing equipment to manufacture certain types of advanced microchips.

Huawei chip

According to the organization, Huawei has already established two factories and plans to build three more, all linked to companies with different names. This means that Huawei has financed these factories, but since they operate under different company names, they can bypass the sanctions that prevent them from importing advanced manufacturing equipment for chips.

Huawei is said to have increased its own chip production and also received $30bn from the Chinese government to do so. It is entirely possible that a portion of these funds has gone toward establishing the “secret” factories that the Semiconductor Industry Association believes Huawei is behind.
