YouTube is now updating its Premium subscription with a bunch of new features including support for Apple’s SharePlay on iOS and an option for better video quality with 1080p.
In the coming weeks, 1080p Premium with better bitrate will start rolling out on iOS. This option is perfect for sports and gaming videos where a lot is happening on the screen. SharePlay, which lets you watch videos with another user remotely, will also be rolled out for iOS in the coming weeks. Android will also get a similar feature powered by Meet Live Sharing, but users don’t need to have Premium.
We understand that our users may not always be connected to the internet, but that doesn’t mean it should stop your YouTube Premium experience. With Smart Downloads, while you’re connected to Wi-Fi, we automatically add recommended videos straight to your library, ready for offline viewing. Forgot to download your favorite content before boarding that long flight? Don’t worry! With this feature you can watch videos on-the-go, whenever you want, while also discovering new content without the hassle of searching.
