Many of us surely miss the sci-fi series X-Files after it ended five years ago, but now there seems to be hope that the series will be resurrected in one way or another.
In an interview with X-Files creator Chris Carter, he says he has been in contact with director Ryan Coogler and that he seems interested in doing something with the classic sci-fi series. In the interview, Carter says, among other things:
I just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount The X-Files with a diverse cast.
There is no more information than that about a possible reboot or continuation of X-Files at the moment. But it sounds quite hopeful. Ryan Coogler has previously directed Creed from 2015, as well as the two Black Panther films that came out in 2018 and 2022.
This is the first we’ve heard anything about Ryan Coogler being attached to “The X-Files” franchise, and it’s one hell of an exciting proposition. Again, we’re assuming this project is separate from the previously announced animated comedy series, but that’s pure assumption on our point at this time. We also can’t be sure that “The X-Files: Albuquerque” is even still in the works here in 2023.
