The old Land Rover Defender refuses to die. In 2016, the manufacturer phased out the model, but it simply refuses to let go. Now, the Land Rover Classic division presents the Defender Works V8 Islay Edition, and only 30 units will be made.

Here, they have used Works-V8s that were manufactured between 2012 and 2016 and then put together a new version of the old car. It is offered in both the short 90 version and the long 110 version with room for up to seven people. And it won’t be cheap if you want one. The short one starts at £230,000 while the long one goes for £245,000.

For the money, you get, among other things, a big 5.0-liter engine that delivers 405 horsepower and 515 Newton-meters, coupled to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The car should do 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and have a top speed of 177 km/h. Updated springs and dampers help with road holding, and there is also a Handling Upgrade Kit that provides even sharper brakes, pads, and calipers.

The inspiration for the build comes from the very early prototypes of the Defender that were tested on the Isle of Islay, Scotland, in the late 1940s. A matching whisky has also been created for the car. Only 639 bottles will be released, and you can serve the drink on small tables that are made from old whisky barrels from the distillery.
