We’ve learned how dirty and grimy our keyboards can get. While you may be inclined to clean your workspace, you may overlook another germ-infested item that goes to and from work with you every single day: your phone. Research shows that most of us rarely disinfect our phones. Yet one in six cell phones contain fecal matter. On top of that, one study found cell phones harbored up to 33,200 colony-forming units, which is the number of bacterial or fungal cells that can grow on a solid material per square inch. To put that into perspective, a public restroom toilet has 3,200 CFU. Headphones (an item 65 percent of polled Quill followers say they can’t live without) aren’t exactly the cleanest either. If you’re feeling grossed out, we’re here to help. Check out the infographic below to learn how to safely and effectively clean your phone and earbuds.
