Social engineering can be a frightening thing. The thought that a hacker can ruin our credit and reputation is a very real threat in today’s world. What’s more is that through social engineering, hackers may be able to pick up information about us by talking to our friends and service providers using info that they find in social media.
You may have heard of phishing: once the criminal has enough info, they will try to do a phishing attempt – getting you to click on what looks to be a legitimate email and hack your computer. You may not be aware of vishing – old school phone phishing tricking people into revealing your passwords or sensitive information. There’s also smishing which is an SMS text version of phishing.
