Toyota is now sharing more about what their electric future will look like, particularly regarding the batteries that will power their electric vehicles. They plan to offer various battery options, some focused on performance and others on cost-effectiveness to enable the production of more affordable electric cars.
The next generation of battery technology is expected to start appearing in models from 2026, with ranges of up to 800 km. By 2027 or 2028, we can anticipate cars that can travel 1000 km on a single charge. During this period, Toyota will also introduce its first solid-state battery, which can be charged up to 80 percent in just ten minutes. Looking further ahead, the goal is for electric cars to achieve a range of 1200 to 1500 km between charges.
Toyota is also working on reducing the thickness of battery packs. The current battery pack in the bZ4X measures 15 centimeters, and in the future, it’s expected to reduce to twelve centimeters in regular cars and ten centimeters in sports cars. Learn more about their plans in the link below.
