Two years ago, we reported that the British custom builder Radford was making a comeback, and now they have delivered their first customer unit of the Type 62-2 model.
The car is entirely tailored to the customer’s specifications, developed in collaboration with them at every step, and the result is here to see. The dark blue paint on top is a nod to the motorsport heritage, reminiscent of the color worn by the Jaguar D-type XKD 606 that won the 1957 Le Mans 24-hour race. The bottom part of the car is silver, chosen to match the wheels. The interior features brown and matte silver, a combination intended to create an open and airy feel.
The buyer, named Shashi Reddy, has the following to say about their unit:
The moment I saw the first pictures of the Radford Type 62-2, I found the design utterly intriguing. You don’t find many car shapes that just catch your eye in that way. Today, there are a lot of choices for expensive cars, and as someone who has been collecting them for twenty years, I look to find something special about every single one. With the Radford Type 62-2, I was particularly captivated by the aesthetics of the car’s front nose and the rear clamshell. Plus the fact that the team is using underpinnings from Lotus, but then modifying these into a new car was something I found very appealing too.
